Thank you for contacting Rojolie Clinic. We understand that choosing the right clinician for an ADHD or mental health assessment can sometimes be confusing. This guide explains the different medically trained clinicians available at Rojolie Clinic, the services they provide, and our current fees for adults (16 years and over) and children and adolescents (under 16 years).
Each medical clinician is appropriately qualified for their role; however, their professional training, scope of practice and level of specialist medical qualification differs. The clinician best suited to you will depend on the complexity of your presentation, the type of assessment or treatment required, medication needs, and your insurance cover.

Understanding our medical clinicians
Consultant Psychiatrist
A Consultant Psychiatrist is a medical doctor who has completed specialist postgraduate training in psychiatry and is vocationally registered as a specialist psychiatrist.
They can:
- Assess and diagnose ADHD and the full range of mental health conditions (Anxiety disorders, mood disorders/ depression etc).
- Assess complex presentations where ADHD or other symptoms may overlap with psychiatric or medical conditions.
- Prescribe and manage ADHD medication and other psychiatric medications.
- Provide specialist psychiatric opinions and reports.
- Provide ongoing specialist psychiatric care where required.
Because psychiatrists are recognised medical specialists, appointments may be partially or fully covered by private health insurance, depending on the terms of your individual policy. Please check directly with your insurer regarding your level of cover.
Medical Officer of Specialist Scope (MOSS)
A MOSS is a registered medical doctor who works within specialist mental health services but is not vocationally registered as a Consultant Psychiatrist.
MOSS clinicians can:
- Assess and diagnose ADHD and other mental health conditions within their scope of practice (Psychiatry) eg. Anxiety disorders, mood disorders/ depression etc
- Prescribe and manage ADHD medication and other psychiatric medications.
- Provide ongoing medical and mental health follow-up care.
MOSS appointments are not eligible for reimbursement under most private medical specialist insurance policies. Patients should confirm their individual cover directly with their insurer.
Clinical Nurse Practitioner (CNP)
A Clinical Nurse Practitioner is a highly experienced registered nurse who has completed advanced postgraduate clinical training and is authorised to practise independently within their scope of practice. A CNP is not a medical doctor or psychiatrist.
Within their scope of practice, CNPs can:
- Assess and diagnose ADHD and other mental health conditions (Anxiety disorders, mood disorders/ depression)
- Prescribe and manage ADHD medication and other psychiatric medications as permitted within their scope of practice.
- Provide ongoing ADHD and mental health medication management and follow-up.
CNP appointments at Rojolie Clinic are not eligible for reimbursement under most private medical specialist insurance policies. Patients should confirm their individual cover directly with their insurer.
At Rojolie Clinic, MOSS clinicians work with Consultant Psychiatrist oversight/ endorsement for ADHD medication management, supporting consistent clinical and prescribing standards.
Which clinician should I see?
For many people seeking ADHD assessment or ongoing treatment, more than one clinician type may be appropriate. The most appropriate clinician will depend on the complexity of the presentation and the type of assessment or treatment required.
A Consultant Psychiatrist may be recommended where there is diagnostic complexity, significant co-existing mental or physical health conditions, previous treatment difficulties, or where a formal specialist psychiatric opinion or report is required by another healthcare professional, insurer or other organisation. CNP and MOSS clinicians may be appropriate for ADHD and mental health assessments, medication management and ongoing follow-up where the patient's clinical needs fall within their respective scopes of practice.
Our team can help guide you towards the clinician most appropriate for your clinical needs. CNP can diagnoses and prescribe for Adults (16yrs+) and need Psychiatrist endorsement to prescribe for <16years.
Additional fees & services
Additional fees may apply for clinical work undertaken outside scheduled appointments.
- Letters and forms: Charged in 10-minute increments, based on the treating clinician's standard 60-minute follow-up rate.
- Clinical and email correspondence: Clinical correspondence requiring review and/or response outside a scheduled appointment is charged in 10-minute increments, based on the treating clinician's standard 60-minute follow-up rate.
- Repeat prescriptions: $40 per prescription request completed outside a scheduled appointment. Where a prescription request requires additional clinical review or correspondence, additional fees may apply.
- Reports: Charged according to the treating clinician's applicable hourly rate, based on the time and complexity involved.
- Medico-legal assessments and reports: Fees are available on application and will be quoted according to the nature and scope of the assessment required.
Where appropriate, patients will be advised of anticipated fees before substantial additional work is undertaken.
